Legal notice

Please read this before making decisions based on this site.

Public information only

imigracaoportugal.com only shares public information gathered online and from official sources, such as the websites of the Government, AIMA, the Tax Portal (Portal das Finanças), Social Security, the official gazette (Diário da República) and the news media.

We are not lawyers, we do not represent any public body, and we have no link to the Portuguese state.

No guarantee of accuracy

Immigration law and procedures change often. We are not responsible for information that is out of date, incomplete or no longer matches reality, nor for decisions made based on this site.

Each guide shows its last review date and links to the official sources. The official source always prevails over what is written here.

Translation

The English guides and studies are translations of Portuguese originals. If the two versions differ, the Portuguese version prevails, and the official source prevails over both.

Not legal advice

The content is for information only and does not replace advice from a lawyer, a solicitor (solicitador) or the competent services. For specific situations, especially refusals, deadlines running out or court cases, seek professional support or a Migrant Integration Support Centre.

Third-party news

The news section is generated automatically and shows headlines and links to the original websites. The content of each story is the sole responsibility of the outlet that published it.

Privacy

This site does not ask for personal data. Search runs entirely in your browser.

To cover its costs, the site may show Google AdSense ads. Personalised ads and their cookies are only used with your consent. Without it, Google may show non-personalised ads.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this and other websites. Advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on those visits. Even for non-personalised ads, Google may use technical data, such as the IP address, to cap how often ads are shown and to fight fraud.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings or at aboutads.info. See also how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We use Google Analytics to count visits in aggregate, but only after you accept in the cookie notice. Without that consent, the site sets no analytics cookies. You can change your mind at any time under “Cookie preferences” in the footer.
